About Heritage Paving
Porcelain Patio
Specialists in Hale Since 2014
Porcelain is now the most requested patio material, and for good reason. Nothing else delivers the combination of striking aesthetics, low maintenance and genuine durability that 20mm outdoor porcelain provides.
At Heritage Paving, we've been installing porcelain patios in Hale for over a decade. We specify only outdoor-grade 20mm anti-slip slabs, laid on a full mortar bed over a properly prepared sub-base. No thinner tiles, no dry-lay shortcuts, no compromise on what's underneath.
We bring samples to your home, help you choose the right finish for your garden, and manage every stage from excavation to the final grout joint. The result is a patio that will look as good in 20 years as it does on installation day.

Colours, Effects and Finishes
A Finish for
Every Garden Style in Hale
Porcelain is available in a wider range of colours and effects than any other patio material. From cool anthracites and pale greys to warm creams, stone effects, wood-effect boards and marble-inspired finishes, there is a product to suit every property style and garden aesthetic.
Surface finishes range from smooth and polished through to deeply textured and riven-effect, with options suitable for everything from a sleek contemporary patio to a more rustic natural-stone look.
What a screen cannot show you is how a tile will actually look in your garden. The colour, texture and how it reads against your house, boundary and planting can only be judged from a full-size physical sample in situ. We can bring samples to your Hale property for your free consultation.

Porcelain vs Natural Stone
Two Premium Materials,
Two Different Strengths
Porcelain and natural stone are both excellent patio choices. The right one depends on your priorities. Here is an honest guide to help you decide.
Modern and Low Maintenance
Porcelain
Fired at 1,250°C, outdoor porcelain is fully vitrified with near-zero water absorption. It is the ideal choice for busy households that want a premium, long-lasting surface with minimal upkeep year after year.
Character and Natural Beauty
Natural Stone (Sandstone / Limestone)
Quarried and formed over millions of years, natural stone brings a warmth, depth and character that no manufactured product can genuinely replicate. It is the choice for homeowners who want a patio that feels truly connected to nature.
Installation Process
Your Porcelain Patio
in Hale in 6 Precise Steps
Porcelain demands precision at every stage. The technical specification matters, here's why each step of our process is non-negotiable.
01
Free Design Consultation
We visit your Hale property with porcelain samples. We discuss finish options, measure the space, assess drainage, DPC clearance and indoor-outdoor level requirements. We never finalise a quotation before seeing the actual site.
Samples brought to your home
02
Fixed-Price Quotation
A detailed written quote covering materials specification, sub-base depth, drainage falls, DPC compliance and any groundworks required. What we quote is what you pay.
No surprises, ever
03
Excavation & Sub-Base
We excavate to the correct depth and compact a 100mm MOT Type 1 sub-base. Drainage falls are established at this stage, a minimum 1:80 gradient to ensure water runs clear of the surface and away from the property. Getting this right is everything.
1:60–1:80 drainage fall set
04
Primed Mortar Bed
We apply an SBR/primer slurry to both the sub-base and each individual porcelain slab before laying. Porcelain is non-porous and will not bond to mortar without primer, skipping this step is the most common cause of porcelain slab failure within 2–3 years.
The step most installers skip
05
Laying & Levelling
Slabs are laid on a full mortar bed using a levelling system to maintain consistent joint widths and perfectly flat plane. Porcelain tolerates zero variation, any hollow under a slab will crack it under load. We use a wet diamond blade to cut all pieces cleanly.
Full-bed — no hollows
06
Grouting, Cleaning & Handover
Flexible grout is applied to all joints after a minimum 24-hour cure. Any excess grout is cleaned from the surface immediately. Final inspection, walkthrough with you and complete site clean-down. Your patio is ready to use immediately after grouting cures.
Flexible grout throughout
